Meet Our Coaches

Tia Hetu

Tia opened The Gymnastic Place in 1999 with the dream of creating a facility where children of all ages could grow, play, and experience her beloved sport of gymnastics. Tia began coaching in 1975 and discovered her love for working with youth. Over the years of Tias own gymnastics career she was the Maine state champion on Beam and Floor and medal on every apparatus at the Junior Olympics at age 12. In high school Tia was a four sport athelete. Gymnastics, Cheerleading and Softball, and the only female on the men's varsity soccer team. Her outstanding performance in all three sports landed her an invitation to the all state Gymnastics team, cheerleading team, and softball team. Tia attended the University of Maine where she was a Gymnast, and Cheerleader.Tia then continued her active lifestyle and became a New England Patriots Cheerleader from 1982-85. In 2015 Tia became a member of the NFL alumni where she volunteers her time to raise money for many worthy causes. Today you can find Tia regularly in class working with all levels of our TGP family, and supporting our competitive team throughout the season.
